Communication: Interpreter Services



National

Registry for Interpreters for the Deaf originated and administers the National Testing System that certifies interpreters. RID also provides various support services to practicing interpreters, students of interpretation, and persons who share an active interest in the field of interpretation. Information on speakers, workshops, and classes are offered for the following: the American with Disabilities Act, the interpreting profession, Interpreter Preparation Programs, National Testing and Certification, Certification Maintenance Program for professional development, national Ethical Practices System, Testimony/Technical Assistance, Interpreter Referral Services, career opportunities, mentoring, internships, and scholarships to cover testing fees.

New York

New Sign Sign Language Connection, Inc. provides interpreting services for the greater Rochester area in New York. They employ more than 150 certified interpreters. For more information, call (877) 454-4220.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Interpreting Services, Inc. is a sign language interpreter referral agency serving New York City, Nassau & Suffolk County, and Northern New Jersey. DHIS is deaf-owned and operated. Owners Irma Azrelyant and Joshua Finkle are fluent in American Sign Language and possess personal and professional expertise in the field of deafness.


Wisconsin

Communication Link is a program of the non-profit Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, located in Brookfield, Wisconsin. This program provides quality interpretation services for American Sign Language, English, oral and Deaf/Blind. Communication Link is located at 3505 N. 124th St., Brookfield, WI 53005.
