Institute for Community Inclusion, at UMass Boston, strives to create a world where all people with disabilities are welcome and fully included in valued roles wherever they go, whether a school, workplace, volunteer group, home, or any other part of the community. Their website features many articles on the employment of people with disabilities.International Association for Life Quality provides a directory of resources and articles focusing on Special Needs Life quality Coach Course to help families plan for the future of their adult child/sibling with a disability.
It's My Choice is a self-guided workbook on person-centered planning by William T. Allen and published by the MN Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities. The guidebook is designed to encourage self-directed planning with support from a team of family and friends. It will help people with developmental disabilities identify their goals and develop a path to attain those goals. It is written in a way that is easy to follow and understand by individuals with DD.
Person Centered Planning Toolkit, produced by The ARC, provides a very simple checklist format that helps individuals with disabilities determine what they can, and are doing now and those things they wish to do. A few examples include, living in his/her own apartment, knowing how to use public transportation, or socializing with friends. The toolkit also provides an extensive list of resources that help each individual reach their personal goals.
Special Needs Answers, a website developed by the Academy of Special Needs Planners, provides parents access to articles, resources, and news related to special needs planning. This website also features a directory of Special Needs Lawyers as well as a directory of Pooled Trusts by state.
