Rehabilitation from a Brain Injury

October 26, 2004

Paul from Massachusetts recently submitted this Personal Experience to New Horizons Un-Limited.

My severe brain injury occurred in 1983(6 days comatose). Primary damage was frontal lobe. It took me about ten years to intergrate the injury into my personality. I graduated Magna Cum Laude as a assistant dietitan in 1995. I worked 5 years as a Diet Consultant(self-employed) before retiring. Shrewd financial planning allowed me to retire so early. I also decided that current work conditions had become too demanding for me to remain employed. My life is now filled by volunteer opportunities (I work because of a desire not because I am required), exercise, Tai-Chi Classes, reading, spiritual development and personal projects. I know a lot about proper rehabilation from a brain injury.
