As we look at the past 25 years of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), we can imagine a bright future!
What are we doing NOW, to ensure a bright future for all of us?
NHU is committed to advocate for data collection research to find the causes of Developmental Disabilities, such as Autism Spectrum Disorders and Cerebral Palsy, for the purpose of prevention; taking steps to make all of us more aware of our role in protecting the unborn from risks of disability. We are advocating for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to update the data collected before, during, and after birth on the U.S. Standard Certificate of Live Birth.
Preventing Developmental Disabilities means we care enough, now, to ensure our collective futures. Every week we delay 12700 more children and their families are impacted.
The time to act is today!
NHU is committed to offer our community members with disabilities the information, tools and experiences that encourage lifelong learning and service, and enable them with the opportunity to be confident, contributing citizens. We believe that fulfillment can be achieved in many different ways and at every stage of life. As such, we offer a range of services to keep our community members moving forward in their lives by providing grants of computer workstations and computer skills training.
Our community members accept the opportunity to invest in themselves and find the next rung on their ladder through life.
The time to act is today!
NHU is committed to dismantling the misconception that citizens with disabilities cannot work. In fact, having hosted more than a dozen interns with disabilities in office and technology skills training over the last several years, we can personally attest that: our community members with disabilities are ready and willing to work!
We care enough now, to ensure our collective futures by attending to citizens with disabilities that they may have the opportunity to be confident, contributing citizens.
The time to act is today!
NHU is committed to assist Friends Groups of the Wisconsin State Parks in the efforts of building Accessible Cabins. The opportunity to respite in the outdoors helps individuals with disabilities and their families to become reinvigorated and helps us feel more alive, free and happy. Outdoor adventures offer family members to bond in ways that may otherwise be more difficult and nature offers good therapy from life's stresses.
Camping cabins offer a low cost option for enjoying the outdoors for people with physical disabilites who require accessible amenities.
The time to act is today!
Join us to care enough NOW ensuring our collective futures!
