New Horizons Un-Limited - Today There is Urgent Need! What Can YOU Do?
Today there is an urgent need for used laptops for homebound individuals with disabilities, those hoping to go to school, find employment or work from home.Today Access to Information requires Access to Technology. On-line learning, participating in doctor visits, training or working from home requires computers, camera, audio, software and Internet access. Technology presents barriers for people with disabilities.
What do we do? New Horizons Un-Limited (NHU) continues to offer a Computer Literacy Training Program and Computer Grant Program to individuals with disabilities. Launched in January of 2004 these programs continue to provide equipment and technical support and repairs to ensure the computers donated remain useful for the recipients. In addition, NHU continues to review current technologies and their usability for people with disabilities.
Do you have a Windows 7 or more recent laptop collecting dust? Have you considered donating to our program? For information on the specs and the various computer equipment you can donate, visit new-horizons.org/pdf/donwsh.pdf
Today when people are faced with serious life issues such as financial problems, lack of affordable housing, health problems, or lack of employment, they turn to resources which can offer direction and assistance.
What do we do? NHU continues to offer Information and Referral and foster a community of individuals sharing solutions to common problems and promoting best practices and ideas for individuals with disabilities. Information on financial assistance, health care and employment resources are a priority during the pandemic.
Today people with disabilities, their families and caregivers have little time for recreation due to the work of living. Isolation and depression are threats always for those with disabilities, but particularly during a pandemic.
What do we do? NHU continues to provide information and promote opportunities to recreation and cultural activities for people with disabilities. More and more resources for connecting people and reducing isolation and depression are available on-line which we share through technology.
