Person in wheel chair making own way Achieving Independent Living is a lifelong goal for many people with disabilities.

There are many non-profit or private organizations that promote equal access to society and the management of skills related to one's disability, in order to empower people with disabilities to be full participating members of their communities. These organizations are often managed by people with disabilities.

They offer advocacy, disability awareness, technical assistance, self-help skills training, peer counseling, support groups, information and referral for independent living, and much more.

This topic will help you find an organization that can help you achieve greater independence in your life or the life of your loved one.
