Title: Emergency Preparedness Act HR 4704
Post by: NHU Community Friend on February 20, 2006, 09:22:26 AM
Bipartisan legislation (HR 4704) has been introduced in the
House that is a companion bill to the Senate emergency
preparedness for persons with disabilities bill (S 2124),
introduced by Senator Tom Harkin in December 2005. The
disability community's advocacy concerning the failures of the
existing emergency management infrastructure for people with
disabilities was instrumental in the introduction of these
bills. The AAPD is encouraging advocates to call their Representatives and
Senators and urge their support of this important legislation!

Thanks to the National Council on Disabilities (NCD) and the AAPD for the information.
