Accessible Space, Inc. provides accessible, affordable, assisted/supportive and independent living opportunities for persons with physical disabilities and brain injuries. Apartments conform to accessibility standards and include lowered kitchen counters and sinks, roll-under stoves, widened doorways, wheel-in showers, raised electrical outlets, and more. Affordable Housing Online is a website dedicated to making the latest and most up-to-date affordable housing data available to the low-income community. Their directory currently contains more than 2,000,000 affordable apartments in all 50 States and every major city in the United States. U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Resource Locator is a mobile application (app) for smartphones and tablets that can help you get answers to your housing-related questions. The app connects you with building managers, public housing authorities and property management companies to learn about available HUD housing, including affordable housing for people with disabilities and seniors. The HUD Resource Locator, available via the web or your smart mobile device, provides instant access to hundreds of affordable housing listings in your city. California
Social Serve provides a database of apartment listings by county. The database allows users to search using a basic, advanced, or disability accessible housing method. To begin searching for disability accessible apartment rentals in California, visit Social Serves website.
Connecticut
New Horizons Village, located in Unionville, Connecticut, is a 68-unit apartment complex designed for people who have severe physical disabilities. Apartments include roll-under counters, sinks and stove, roll-in showers, tilt-down mirrors, central air-conditioning and all appliances are included. Tenants manage their own lives in a supportive and fully accessible setting. A financial assistance program is available to qualified tenants. For more information, call (860) 673-8893.
Twin Haven, Inc. is a non-profit organization, which provides "efficient, effective and aesthetically appealing housing for the disabled, elderly and handicapped." Applicants must be 62 years of age or older or an adult with a disability. Florida
FloridaHousingSearch.org is an online housing locator service that allows people to locate affordable and accessible housing in their desired area. Assistance in also provided via a toll-free number, (877) 428-8844.
Mending Hearts Charities promotes economic self-sufficiency and quality housing for the disabled, low-income and very low-income individuals/families in Orange County, Florida. They rent homes to families in Sanford and Holden Heights. Rental rates are below market and they do not increase rents for the life of the tenancy. They also provide low monthly rental payment plans to families finding themselves in a temporary financial emergency. United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta has developed the Housing Directory: A Guide to Low Cost Housing Resources in Metropolitan Atlanta. This directory features a range of information on housing for low income individuals as well as a tip sheet for individuals with physical disabilities.

Massachusetts
Citizen Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) has developed a guide entitled Housing Search Guide for People with Disabilities in Massachusetts, which provides information about searching for rental housing in Massachusetts for people who have one or more disabilities.
MassAccess: The Accessible Housing Registry is a free program that matches people with disabilities with vacant, accessible housing. The registry is available online. Local Independent Living Centers can also provide the housing information Mass Access collects. They will also help with the application process and provide information on tenant rights, civil rights, and home modifications. Ask for the housing coordinator at any of the Massachusetts Independent Living Centers.
Minnesota
Housing Link offers information on affordable rental housing available in the Seven County Metropolitan Area of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota. They offer the Housing Referral Service
(HRS), which informs low-income renters of metro-wide housing opportunities for which they may be eligible. Paraquad, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit community-based Center for Independent Living. Paraquad was founded in 1970 and is a St. Louis organization where professional independent living services are provided by staff members with disabilities. New Hampshire
North Country Independent Living serves adults with acquired brain injuries with their Supported Apartment Living Program. The apartments are located in North Conway, New Hampshire, a four-season resort community. A variety of services are offered to apartment residents, all aimed to increase an individual's ability to live independently. For more information, call (888) 400-6245.
New York
Snow Belt Housing
Company, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to seeing that all Lewis County residents are able to afford a safe and decent place to live. In addition to offering housing assistance programs, they also manage several apartment units. High Falls and Whitton Place Apartments are open to both low-income elderly and handicapped residents of Lewis County. There is a waiting list for entry. Ohio
Maximum Accessible Housing of Ohio (MAHO) provides accessible and subsidized apartment communities to people with physical disabilities in Cuyahoga, Lake and Lorain counties in Northeast Ohio. All units are designed for full accessibility, including wheelchair-accessible kitchens and bathrooms, wide doorways and halls, low kitchen counters and cabinetry, sinks at wheelchair-level and open underneath, roll-in showers, easy to reach light switches and no steps or barriers to enter. Oregon
HousingConnections.org is an on-line searchable database offering listings for affordable, accessible and special needs housing in the Portland Metro area. They also offer a referral phone line at (503) 823-4141.

Washington
Bellwether Housing, a private, non-profit organization, offers affordable housing to low-to-medium income people in the downtown Seattle area. HRG sets rents at an amount that is affordable to individuals and families, which is approximately 30% of their gross income. Tenant rental assistance provided by Section 8 is also welcome. Wisconsin
Independence First provides housing-specific information and referral to residents of Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha Counties, including lists of accessible housing, affordable housing, and information on subsidized housing. Movin' Out, Inc. is a non-profit community development housing organization based in Madison, Wisconsin. They assist low to moderate income individuals with disabilities find affordable, accessible, rental housing that is located in neighborhoods. St. Clare Management, is a not-for-profit agency offering accessible apartment residences to people with disabilities on limited incomes. Apartments are located throughout Milwaukee County and feature elevators, lowered cabinet and counters, roll through kitchens, roll in showers, grab bars and adjustable showers, automatic entry door openers, telephone operated intercom and off-site fire alarm monitoring.
