« on: December 28, 2004, 12:41:17 PM »
For home modification here is a quick outline of what to consider when planning a bathroom renovation to accommodate the accessible needs of people.

Quick outline of what to consider when planning a bathroom renovation.

Roll –in or curbless shower – no leg lifts – large enough for a wheelchair to 360 degree turn
Or shower bench
Higher Toilet or “right height”
Grab bars
In-the wall reinforcement blocking needed to support grab bars.
(cost $10 dollars when building, much more if required and added later)
Non-skid flooring
Lever door handles
Storage furniture rather than under-sink storage
Pedestal sinks
Thermostatic control valves
Adjustable shower heads
Larger mirrors
Good lighting
Wider doorways
